All NXR Professional style hoods should be installed between 30" and 36" above the cooking surface.
The slat-style metal filters of a baffle found in pro and commercial style hoods force smoke to change directions and separates grease droplets from the air and drip down into the grease tray. In other words, baffle filters will be more efficient than a metal mesh filter.
There are 3 ways you can clean your baffle filters:
Place the filter in a sink with hot soap water and scrub with a non-abrasive sponge, and dry them immediately after. Do not use harsh chemicals that can corrode the stainless steel.
Soak in a tank with water over night, and add about 1 cup of a metal safe non corrosive cleaner per gallon of water. Remove the filter and wipe off excess grease, and dry before reinstalling.
Fill the soap compartment the same way as if running a regular load of dishes, and run a wash cycle. Make sure all residue is removed after the cycle is complete and dry the filter before reinstalling.

Depending on your style of cooking, NXR generally recommends cleaning the dishwasher-safe baffle filters at least once a month. If you frequently fry, grill or wok cook, you may want to clean your filters more often.
